In order to be Gas Safe Registered in your own right you will need;

1. Sufficient ‘Solo” Lead Engineer Experience’ demonstrated on the job under the supervision of an approved NVQ Field Gas Assessor / Gas Inspector on all the core Gas Safety Compliance Areas. Sufficient is simply the amount of assessment each individual needs to demonstrate on the job solo competence.
2. The ACS Competency Certificates related to the type of gas work you will be undertaking. 

In order to undertake your ACS Assessments to qualify for 1 and 2 above you need 

1. A Gas NVQ Qualification; this can be a recognised City & Guilds Gas NVQ, a Managed Learning program, or an equivalent suitable in House Training Program with a Gas Registered Company.
2. Evidence of Work Experience Covering the Syllabus Relative to the course you are undertaking, served on the job with a Registered Gas Company.

We know as trainers that even after paying attention during your lessons, it is unlikely you will have taken it all in. Homework is essential to keep up with the syllabus and this additional home study when you are tired can be overwhelming.

This stage of your training is so important that we have developed this option so nothing is left to chance. The program is delivered lesson by lesson from the qualified engineer’s perspective because that is your goal. Each Module is followed by an exam. Failing the exam demonstrates that something in the lesson was missed or hasn’t been understood yet. Our Distance Learning students can press the rewind button and redo the lesson, meaning that each individual’s learning curve is catered for.

Each Student has access to his own professional tutor in order to discuss any components of the course. Our Courses tutors assist you through this first stage and prepare you for stage 2

·        If you are considering our services it’s because you have now arrived at the most important decision you will have to make. This is where the real training starts. Our On Job program will uplift your skills to a Category 1 Lead Engineer with Solo Assessed Experience. (Work Ready)

·         - All our Field Trainers are Accredited NVQ Gas Assessors (We do not use engineers for this vital component of your training)

·         All your work experience is developed as a LEAD ENGINEER, where YOU will be doing all the work.  You will not be playing second fiddle to anyone. 

·         All Work Experience Sessions are intensive and include work on average 10 Gas Work (portfolio type) tasks making each session extremely productive and Cost Effective. This means fewer sessions are needed than when following an engineer around hoping for the work opportunities to arise. 

·         Because all work experience sessions are completed under the supervision of an accredited gas inspector/assessor YOU will be doing ALL the GAS work, and not watching someone else do it. None of the work involves you playing second fiddle and is all on gas!

·         Because you are undertaking real Cat 1 Assessments ‘On the Job’ all of your work experience counts as real life experience that we provide references for and which can be used as a true demonstration of competency On the Job. Preparing for your on the job training and assessment work experience sessions will make all the difference on the day. The sessions are intensive and are designed to transfer your theory to practical. As part of your portfolio and work experience program you will undertake our Field Preparation program.

In order to achieve Assessment Levels of Competence from Day 1

• You will undergo a work experience preparation program that will bring your readiness up to that required of a Cat 1 Engineer. This is completed online using our popular field engineer competence preparation program, and can be completed at your own speed without losing time from work.
• You will undertake gas appliance inspections online, gathering data and checking your test results.
• You will receive a software download for our ‘Gas Engineer Support Wizard’ to assist you before, during and after your assessments.
• You will have access to our field trainers where you can communicate and prepare with a personal support tutor.
• You will receive method statements and preparation materials in readiness for your sessions.

Preparation for your ACS Assessments

As part of your work experience program you will have access to our leading acs revision program which includes free mock acs test papers, theory and practical revision, and real support from real life centre assessors to ensure that you are ready to undertake your acs assessments.

Join Our Kick Start Gas Registration Program

For many the first few steps as a qualified gas engineer can be daunting. For candidates who have been trained and assessed by our team of approved gas assessors, and deemed as Cat 1 work ready engineers, an opportunity to start their solo careers under our registration and watchful eye is provided on request for the first 3 to 6 months. You will show on the Gas Safe register and have your own Gas Safe registration card, and you will be supported with references and technical support whilst you start your new career. We will complete an early period of audit and work support to ensure you are ready to forge ahead with confidence.

For candidates who are both confident and competent on completion the step onto the gas register will be a routine next step, and our support will continue for 6 months after your program is completed.

 STEP 3 - PROFESSIONAL MEMBERSHIP INCLUDED FOR YOUR 1^ST YEAR

STEP 4 – ACS ACCREDITATION

                   ACS Competency Assessments – CCN1 – CPA1 – CENWAT – HTR1 – CKR1

On successful completion of the above 2 elements your assessor will enter you onto the ACS Accredited certification of Competency Scheme which is generally 5 to 7 Days In a Local or National Centre Depending on your Convenience.

Here you will undertake the following Accredited Assessments and gain a recognised qualification in gas safety

CCN1 – Core Domestic Gas Safety (pre-requisite to all additional modules)

CEN WAT 1 – Installation, service, and maintenance of Gas Boilers and Water heaters

CPA1 – Combustion performance Analysis

CKR1 – Installation, Service and Maintain Gas Cookers, ranges and Hotplates

HTR1 – Installation, Service and Maintain Gas Fires, and Space Heaters

MET1 - Installation of Meters

STEP 5 – GAS REGISTRATION

When Your ACS Certificates are approved, you will be added to the national database of accredited engineers. From here you are eligible to apply for gas registration or employment with a gas registered company. Remember that your route here is essential to turning your investment into a career and income, especially if your intention is to become self employed. It can be extremely difficult if you are only now ready to get some lead engineer experience, because finding a company who will now employ you and pay you to train you to lead engineer standard is like searching for a needle in a haystack. A simple check in your classifieds and online will demonstrate this. References and evidence of Solo, and Lead engineer competence, skill levels, and other formal criteria will be the first thing on an employers mind.

For confident candidates solo registration will be a matter of fact and direct application can be made. This is followed by a 3 month probationary period in which Gas Safe Register will need to confirm your competency. All of our candidates have easily passed their probationary periods.

For less confident students who have completed stage 2 and 3 with our own trainers and assessors you are welcome to join our Kick Start Gas program where you undertake your first 3 to 6 months Gas Registered With CTSGroup and are provided technical gas safety support whilst undertaking your own gas work. We complete your initial audits during this time to build confidence and demonstrate personal references and evidence of Field engineer experience.

It’s Time to Turn Your Investment into an Income, and we provide 6 months post registration support to help you with technical issues on site. You will receive our Engineer Field Pack, which includes Gas Wizard software to guide you through your job now that you are onsite. This includes servicing, gas safety inspections, Boiler repairs, commissioning and lots more.

Payment Methods

We make paying for your Training Easy and Achievable. Firstly You are under no Obligation to continue paying at any time. If you are not completely satisfied with your training you will not be liable to any further payments. You can stop or start at your leisure, although the field training has to be completed within a given time.

1. You can pay for all your training up front with a massive 10% Discount on the price if you decide to fix the price of your quote.
2. You Can fix your quote and then pay for your training in stages, by paying for each stage as you commence. All stage prices are fixed and quoted before commencement with no additional fees
3. You can Split your stage payments down into manageable chunks. All Payable AS-YOU-GO. (With discounts available during the quotation), stop and start, or take payment breaks.
4. You can pay by Credit/Debit Card, Cheque, Bank Transfer, or any pre-agreed Payment means, in Part, In full, or Pay As You Go.
