We have been running this course for over 4 years now with all our successful candidates completing
their theory, practical, on job training, Solo Assessments, ACS Competency Certs, and becoming Work
Ready Gas Safe Registered Engineers with references.
One Thing that puts many people off when it
comes to changing a career or making a big decision is that they just
cannot fathom out how they are going to make it happen.
This course addresses all of the scary questions you may have and puts a simple solution to them all.
First:
This program of training comes without any obligation to pay the next installment unless you want to.
We know how good we are at training because we have nothing but delighted clients and we know that
once you get started your excitement will keep you going forward. But
we are not just bragging, we are happy to put our money where our mouth
is. If you don't Love the course, and it does not deliver
everything you need, you can stop paying at anytime.
Second:
You get to Set your own Installment Rate. You can Pay for a lesson at a time, or several lessons to suit
your financial state at the time. You can purchase lessons at the rate that you are able to complete
them, or buy each stage outright if you are on a time plan, you
can stop or start, slow down or speed up. You can take a year out and
come back and start over without any additional cost whatsoever.
Third:
This Program Concludes with you being a 'Work Ready Gas Registered Engineer' ! (Most courses will tell
you, that you are eligible for registration on completion and they are right. We are eligible to go to the
moon but we aint gonna get there without a Rocket. The Newspapers recently highlighted this problem. Let's be real. It's no walk in the park. And a short college course in gas does not make you a high income,
highly wanted engineer. Once you get over the shock that you have to build your own portfolio, and
thats not going to easy if you aren't working for a gas company, Its self certified, so there is no evidence
of Solo Lead Engineer Competency, and You have no Work Experience to demonstrate to an employer
that
you are of any use, it will probably be far too late and you may find
yourself adding to the already overflowing pile of accredited and
certified engineers who realize that some competency certificates are
not enough to transfer the course into real work with real money. This despite the fact that there is an
ever growing need for highly confident, and competent professionals in this industry.
We have been successfully addressing this issue for many years. We tailor a mix of courses, training,
work experience, Lead Role Training , On Job Assessments and Gas Registration followed by a period
of work experience whilst registered to make sure our clients are at the front of the pack, are
experienced enough to start their own business or work for national contractors. Our Engineers all
come with references and evidence of solo competency, so agency work is not a problem either. Our
Gas program provides the ideal model for serious students actually
wanting to become front line gas professionals and provides just
that.
Who Are We
We have been leading this field for the past 7 years. We focus our energies on the 5 most important
parts
of your training. We actually address the factors that will make it
possible for you to turn your investment into an income because that's
why you are taking the course isn't it?. This is not a Quick
Fix, Fast Track Way of becoming a Gas Engineer after a 2 to 5 week course. It's time to be serious !
Being Gas Registered is a Professional Award. The money doesn't just fall into your lap, it takes
planning, making contacts, developing a business plan. Your training and self marketing has to
start the same day you start your training, and thats exactly what we do with you. When you consider
that it takes a Lawyer, or Doctor 5 to 9 years to reach this level of professionalism you would have
to be a little on the suspicious side to think you can do it in a few weeks and you would be right, It's
all but impossible (There are exceptions, of course, some people have what it takes, to turn their
training around at lightening speed and be brilliant, everything falls
into place, and we cater for those people), but make no mistake, most
candidates do not fall into this group. We Have successfully
developed programs that lead to real long term prospects, and we have real head hunters banging on
our doors.
Don't Do It Fast, Do It Right !
The market is full of qualified ACS Accredited Gas Engineers who cannot get work or transfer their
training into an income, and its not because they are not needed. This skills area is as much as ever in
need of quality Gas Engineers, if not more so now, but you will discover that for an employer to want
you, Real Lead Engineer Time, References, and Auditable Experience are going to be needed. The gas
courses give you a qualification, but they are far from enough to get you any work.
Gas Safe would suggest a period of 2 years work experience after you complete your ACS Assessments
to build enough experience to go solo and in most cases they would be right. Unfortunately a quick
search of the classifieds will soon demonstrate that the only companies looking for trainee gas engineers
are the very training providers who are trying to sell you their course under a sneaky guise of work.
It can't be Done For Pennies
There is a whole lot of training involved. (The age old saying "pay peanuts and get monkeys" has
always proved to be true. What's worse is paying more but getting peanut value training. Whether you
are considering an employed position at £30k to £40k or self employed
at over 60k (And we can demonstrate much higher figures than these
after a few years in the field) a college course for less
than £2000 is hardly going to get you to this level of return. You need to be realistic. The best plumbers
for instance don't even have qualifications, they have
self confidence and demonstrate their skills through word of
mouth and quality of work. Pay what you want to get through someones
door, the minute you slip up the customer will not be calling you
again, and neither will their friends or neighbours. You will have
high advertising bills, and always very little to show for your
efforts. You will probably hang around the forums moaning about the
guys earning good money. Be Sure the quoted figures for your training
will often only cover your theory and class room practical. The real
training is often not even included. You have to build up on the job
support time under the supervision of a registered gas engineer in all
the areas of gas you intend to work. You need to build a portfolio of
evidence which is sufficient enough to demonstrate you have completed
sufficient on job training long before you can even undertake your ACS
Assessments, Then You will need at least 30 to 40 hours minimum of Lead
Engineer Solo Assessment, all of which is on Gas Work, by an
accredited and approved Gas Inspector, Assessor or Verifier, to stand a
chance of going self employed or get references on top of your ACS
Assessments. Then you may need 3 to 12 months working under the
umbrella of a gas company to further your experience depending on your
own levels of self confidence. Only one or two providers can even
offer this. (And We Are One of them)
How Do We Do It?
All our Gas Courses include all the necessary variables to become Work
ready and Gas Registered On Completion. Many of the variables are opt
in or opt out so you get to chose whats in and whats out. You
may have your own engineer to work with, or already be working with a
gas registered company. You may have already completed a Gas Theory
Certificate. You may only need on job assessment, or ACS Accreditation.
Whatever your situation, simply asking one of our trainers will clear
things up. Ours costs
are guidelines and personalised quotations are quite natural.
Our Full Program Includes all the following:
1. Theory - In order to be
competent in the field you will need to know this industry inside out.
A few lessons and some reading time will not come close to the measure
of understanding needed to prevent
Gas Explosion and Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. This course addresses that by allowing you a structured
21 Module Gas Training program delivered from the In Field Engineers
point of view by a lecturer. Each Lesson is followed by an exam. Each
exam must be passed to proceed to the next lesson. The course is
tutor supported throughout which means support is always on hand.
What's brilliant is that if you fail the exam,
you can go back and retake the lesson. You obviously missed something.
This can be carried out without any further charge until you can
demonstrate a theory competency in all the subject areas. These are
listed in the prospectus which you can download below.
2. Practical
The Theory Program you will have undertaken includes the latest
training materials that can be used to prepare you for your field
training long before you set one hand on a gas appliance or
installation.. After completing your theory you will undergo a
practical and field training induction program. Once again this can be
completed distance learning with your tutor and includes a 5 step
preparation module. You can then chose to undertake your practical
training in one of two ways.
(a) At one of our preferred centres where you will meet your course tutor for the first time.
(b) Or you may wish to save some time and money and do this part
in real life properties on real appliances, and combine it with your
portfolio building.
We are able to do this because we only use qualified trainers and approved assessors one to one in the field with you.
This is how all our in house training has catered for our
apprentices requirements in the past, and nothing beats the real thing.
It also means your training costs can be reduced. Our own experience
has shown that those candidates undertaking their practical training in
the field have slightly higher success rates.
3. On The Job Training
You will need to align your self with a gas company to complete a
period of field training sufficient to apply all your learned skills.
This is ideal if you are already working for or with a gas company. If
not we would be delighted to offer our field training services to you.
We only use accredited approved gas trainers and assessors in the
field. Our sessions focus 100% only on what you need to learn. you are
not following the engineer around or supporting them in their work. The
Trainer hands you all the tools and sundries, and you do all the work.
The Trainer will ensure you cover all the necessary work areas and
provide feed back to your tutor. During this time you will complete a
portfolio of evidence which we supply and the evidence can be shared
online to save time and postage. you can also get instant feedback from
your tutor. This period of training lasts only as long as it takes you
to demonstrate to the trainer that you are successfully able to work on
all the areas set out to you. When the trainer feels you are ready to
step up to the test you are referred to one of our Accredited NVQ
Assessors who will accompany you on the Job (SOLO) for a minimum of 32
hours (Up to as many as it takes for you to demonstrate your solo
competence).
Just like learning to fly, it is essential that
you can demonstrate Solo Experience, making all the decisions and
completing all the gas work until the assessor is happy that you a CAT
1 Class and Ready to work solo in the field after taking your ACS
Assessments.
4. Lead Engineer Training and Solo Assessments
Just like learning to fly, it is essential that you can demonstrate
Lead Engineer time, making all the decisions and completing all the gas
work for a period of time that extends long enough for you to
demonstrate to an accredited Gas Inspector or NVQ Field Assessor that
you can do all the work safely, competently, and unaided, whilst
identifying all manner of unsafe situations and actioning them. This is
the kind of engineer that employers want and that Gas Safe are looking
to include on the national register. At present we are still one of the
only companies who lead this area. This element is the most essential
part of your training when it comes to wanting to turn your
qualification into work and money. This is not a work placement, nor is
it time following an engineer around. This is your spending time with a
professional inspector who verifies your readiness to work solo on gas.
And we do it where it matters, On The Job. This way all of our
candidates complete the program as work ready engineers with
confidence and work references.
5. Boiler Repair, Servicing and Gas Safety Inspection Training and Assessment
Another key factor to being at the top of your game, become
employable and ready to go self employed is being able to do the job.
The Gas Safety Courses deal with gas safety not how to do the Job. This
is where this important module becomes an essential part of your
training. The model covers the design and repair sequence for Gas
Boilers and post completion field support. Servicing, and Gas Safety
Inspection training and Solo verification. Starting your career
in service and maintenance is an ideal way to take your first steps
into this field. Being Ready to do this is even more important. These
models are intensive tutor supported training areas that include Role
Playing Examinations and Games to Confirm your readiness.
6. Pre ACS Preparation
Prior to Undertaking your ACS Assessments you will undertake
a rigorous preparation program. This will include some exciting
Role Playing Programs, and some not so exciting written reports,
document design, and other preparation for when you are ready to go it
alone.
7. ACS Competency Assessments and Certification
ACS Assessments (Domestic/Commercial/LPG) & Other subject areas
Your ACS Assessments can be undertaken at any of our preferred
centres nationally, or at any ACS Approved centre. There is somewhere
local to you always. These compulsory certificates are your
first major goal. These certificates give you the legal entitlement to
work for a gas registered company or apply for your own registration.
Most popular being;
CCN1 - Core Domestic Gas Safety the pre-requisite to all additional certificates.
CPA1 - Use of Flue Gas Analysers on Gas Appliances
CENWAT - Service, Installatation, Commission and Repair Domestic Gas Boilers and Water Heaters
HTR1 - Service, Installatation, Commission and Repair Domestic Gas Fires, and Space Heaters
CKR1 - Service, Installatation, Commission and Repair Domestic Gas Cookers and Ranges
Other popular certificates include
DAH1 - Service, Installatation, Commission and Repair Domestic Gas Warm Air Units
MET1 - Installation of Gas Meters
8. Get To Work Program - Gas Registration
At this stage, depending on your assessors advise, and self
confidence, there are some important choices. If you are already
established in business , your next obvious step will be Solo Gas
Registration and a short probationary period. For those candidates not
yet confident enough to go front line you will be able to take
advantage of our Kick Start Gas Registration Program and start your
work, and job searching under our umbrella, already on the register
whilst you build your early experience. In either case If you
have completed your field training and assessment with our own field
NVQ Assessors then Registration at this stage will be a formality.
Whether it is direct or with us will be your choice.
9. Post Registration Support
For 6 months after registration you will remain in touch with your
personal tutor who is on hand to offer gas safety and technical advice
during your early days out there on your own. This is an essential
support package especially with your probationary interview coming up.
